It All Started With
A Dream...
1975
Back in 1975, a couple Cree boys and an old food truck—nothing fancy, just a beat-up rig slinging bannock in the heart of the city. One night, out of nowhere, this old Scotsman rolled up, looking like he’d walked straight out of history. He claimed he’d been searching for the chosen bannock brothers to pass down a thousand-year-old family recipe. Said it was time for the bannock to find its true home. Sounded crazy, but something about him felt real...
For forty days and nights, we worked side by side, trying to master this so-called legendary recipe. At first, our bannock was a disaster—too dry, too dense, just wrong. But then we started listening, not just to him, but to our own roots. Bannock wasn’t just flour and fire—it was history, connection, survival. And on the 41st day, we finally nailed it. Light, golden, perfect. But when we turned to celebrate, the old man was gone. No goodbye. No trace. Just the scent of woodsmoke hanging in the air.......
Today, Bannock World carries on the legacy—Indigenous bannock with a twist, keeping tradition alive in a fast-moving world. Every bite is a story, every dish a piece of something bigger. The Scotsman said the recipe had to find its true home, and we like to think it finally did.
